March 2015

Old Jack Frost thought he was going to get the better of us….. Well he had better think again.  Augusta Sailing club cruisers are made of tougher stuff than that.  The weekend of Feb. 7th and 8th was absolutely spectacular with temps in the upper 50’s and low 60’s.  That brought the cruisers out in force.  Saturday saw winds as high as 23 mph and at least 7 boats out enjoying it.   Sunday was even better with continued winds and at least 8 boats.  Jay and I had our 25 foot Helms out and put the rails in the water.  How exciting for me.  I can’t tell you how much fun I had.   I know I was not the only one having a great time as each boat we past was filled with great big smiles and cheerful greetings.

The actual full moon cruise scheduled for Saturday Feb. 14th was cancelled due to the frigid outdoor temperatures.   While there was not actual raft up, inside it was warm and cozy as several club members having a valentines get together by the fire.  I was not able to stay but I saw the clubhouse being set up and I know they were in for a fun filled night and great food.

Next month the full moon cruise will follow the commodores reception on March 14th and I hope you will join us.  We are looking forward to warmer weather and a moon lit sky.
