What a great start to the Cruising Season we are having. Thirteen members of ASC, mostly cruisers, were at Charleston’s Race Week last month. A great time was had by all! Charleston Yacht Club’s regatta’s parties are the best, and we enjoyed them fully.

Soiree, Capriole, Center and Good Golly Miss Molly. We had a full load out on Soiree, and the views of the club and dam under the bright full moon were incredible. The Coys and Wests shared information they learned in Annapolis, MD at Cruiser’s University and Tim Buss gave a recap of the Poker Run Race held earlier in the day. |
The Saturday
night raft-up was equally successful. With
seven boats in attendance, we had a “fiesta” late into the night. In honor of Cinco de Mayo, everyone brought
latin appetizers and libations. They
were so delicious and plentiful that no one cooked dinner! It was great to have many of the regular
cruisers, plus a few we haven’t had at a raft-up in a while there with us.
Mark Your
Calendars. Memorial Weekend is not
only the Castleberry Regatta, but the Plum Branch Beach Music Raft-up as
well. Enjoy your club by taking part in
at least one (if not all) of these fun events!
The weekend of
June 2-3 is our next Full Moon Cruise, and I am excited for the opportunity to
have my sundowner while floating in the lake with friends. Won’t you join us?
As always, hail
“Full Moon Cruisers” on VHF16, or just call me (Brenda Coy) at 706/296-3027 as
the location of the raft-ups change with the weather and known attendees’ time
limitations. If you are on the e-mail
“short list”, you will get a reminder earlier in the week before the
cruise. Get on the list by emailing Brenda
Coy at formrteki@yahoo.com.
We
continue to hear that Thunder Over Thurmond will return to the main part of the
lake this year on July 7-8, and the fireworks raft-up is always the best
attended of all our cruises. The next
Cruiser’s Corner will not be available in time to get the group organized, so
make
sure you are on the Cruiser’s e-mail “short list” so you will be included
in preparations for the event.
See
you on the lake!
