Dale Demyan

Augusta sailing club mourns the loss of Dale Demyan. Dale passed away Sunday October 30.  Dale a long-time member since September 1981, was very active at the club. Ten years ago, Dale developed the Oyster Roast/Low Country Boil which he then coordinated and grew to one of the best attended club events. As a Dock Authority Member since 2005 and 4-time Harbormaster, Dale worked tirelessly to maintain and improve the docks and mooring field. Dale managed the dock rebuild projects for Dock A, B, C, D, E and the East Courtesy Dock along with developing an innovative cost effective mooring ball cable anchor system. Dale was the originator of the memorial plaque monument to commemorate deceased club members that have had their ashes spread at the lake. Dale was a Klemann Award recipient and in 2012 Dale received the Harden Award, the clubs highest award for service.

Dale loved the club and often remarked about the peace and serenity he found spending time at the club.

We at the club will greatly miss Dale's friendly presence and many many services to the club.

We extend our sympathies to his wife of 30 years, Bobbie Bledsoe.
