If you thought the Halloween Regatta had unusual wind, you should have been at the Midlands Regatta in Columbia. The wind was exactly the same, strong, big gust, lots of shifts and to top it off, cold, cold, cold temperatures. Our new Opti sailors were not to be denied the sail however.

Jack Bailey and Erin Willingham not only braved it all, but came in First and Second respectively in the Opti Green fleet. I had the opportunity to be there and do some coaching as well. The ASC Opti Fleet promises to be active in the Southeast region. I want to thank the ASC Board for making this new fleet possible and giving this new group of young sailors the opportunity to represent our club. We have several new families that will be joining the club next year as well because of the Opti class introduction to ASC.  Jim Holder
