Dinner $10 (Mexican Meal) One Design Fleets Expected: MC-Scows and E-Scows Portsmouth Fleet: Open to all dingy and competitors This premier event for our club was established as a
handicap regatta for all classes of dinghy boats; which in the early 50's
consisted of several type, but mostly Lightnings.
Since those days many classes have come and gone but the event named in honor of our founders, Clem Castleberry and Jim Robertson, remains the clubs most time honored racing event.
The perpetual trophy presented to the overall winner resides in the clubhouse bar trophy case and prominently displays an impressive list of ASC's finest dinghy racers. Over the years we have invited many different classes from other areas in to join us for this wonderful event, but only ASC members are eligible to win the coveted trophy.
In recent years the club established another distinguished trophy, the Commodores Cup; to be awarded during and within the Castleberry-Robertson Regatta to extend the range of participation that the Portsmouth Rating System fails to accomodate. This trophy awards in the same way as the Castleberry-Robertson, to the efforts of those enjoying boats ranging from Sunfish, lasers, JY-15's and other small dinghy's.
Since establishment of the Commodore's Cup and after much discussion, those to vie for this years trophy will sail E-Scows, while all others will have a chance to win the Castleberry-Robertson trophy. As we have experienced such an increase in some boats performance over others, the two fleets will exchange places, so not to exclude any sailor an opportunity to compete for the Castleberry-Robertson trophy.
So, no matter if you are an old salt or a new week-end warrior or even just learning; our Castleberry-Robertson Regatta is not to be missed. Go dust off those old dinghy's and plan to join the fun, we'd love to see you out there!
Racing begins Sat 24th @11:30 with Competitors mtg @ 10am Clubhouse. Plan to stay after sailing to gather, share some stories at the bar and have dinner. Have fun, but not too much, we want you back Sun am to do it again.
Hope to see everyone there & Happy 60th CR !!
