October Fest

Oktoberfest  Scheduled for  September  23:  Canceled

We are cancelling the Oktoberfest. I’ve discussed this with Tim, Mike, and others; and we feel that with the aftereffects of the storm, damaged boats and club property, peoples’ hands are full and not really in the spirit to have a party. This is especially true considering we are just off Labor Day Regatta with Halloween looming. Next year we probably should look at something maybe early to mid November.

Camp Ivy great success again this year

A HUGE thank you to Augusta Sailing Club for a magical day sailing!  YMCA's Camp Ivey, a camp for Exceptional (special needs) campers wrapped up their last camp day at ASC. Certified sailing instructor Jim Holder kicked the morning off at the beach with a sailing tutorial that included a capsized boat and recovery. The day continued with sailors getting sail boats and a couple of power boats ready for time on the water.  Many thanks to the sailors Daniel Fodera, Michael Blier, Bob Rickerman, Kevin & Amy Kilchenstein, Rocky Kight, Jay & Rene Hopkins, Norman Michael, Brian Slater, Tim Buss, Jeffrey Holder for getting the campers on the water.  The campers were all smiles as they helped raise sails and steer the boats. After sailing...the day concluded with lunch at the club and sharing some first time sailing experiences.  Thanks also goes to Vince, Maddie & Gigi Miller and Mary Jane Harrison for setting up lunch.  The smiles, laughter and friendships made will forever be a magical day with very exceptional campers!

 Hugs to all,

Camp Ivey Campers and counselors
